A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the overall design of mechanical products and systems, as well as overseeing the work of junior engineers and technicians. They may also be involved in project management, product development, and marketing.
Responsibilities:
- design and development of mechanical systems and components
- testing the designs to ensure that everything is working as it should be
- working closely with other engineers, support staff, and management
- helping clients when requested
A senior mechanical design engineer should have:
- A bachelor’s degree or a related field, as well as a master’s degree in some cases
- Licensure as a professional engineer
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in CAD software and other computer-aided design methods
- Effective communication with other team members
